What to Expect
What is your in-session counseling style like?
I take a very interactive approach to counseling. Our time will include dialog that promotes a sense of exploration. My goal is to provide you with a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings as I help you navigate your challenges.
What does a typical psychotherapy session look like? Are there any standard techniques you use?
Each session starts with a mindfulness exercise. These exercises can range from seated yoga (which I affectionately call "mindful movement"), or an energy-boosting breathing exercise (Breath of Joy, Bellows Breath, Alternate Nostril Breathing), or possibly a more centered & grounding exercise such as a 3-5 minute guided visualization. Whichever exercise we use can be taken with you as a tool to use outside of our session.
What is covered during the "Free Consultation"?
The phone consultation is a 10-15 minute phone call where we’ll take the time to touch on your goals for therapy. We can discuss my counseling style, and any road blocks you may have experienced in therapy in the past. We can also touch on logistics such as location and schedules.
How long is an initial appointment and what does that look like?
Sessions are 50-55 minutes, $150 per session payable at the time of service. In the initial session we’ll take the time to review and clarify any questions you may have about the paperwork, and anything you feel may be relevant to our work together. We'll identify goals and you'll likely leave with an article, meditation or podcast as "homework"!
A cancellation fee of $150 will be charged if at least 24 hours cancellation notice is not provided.
