Hi, I'm Michelle.

I'm a Georgia-based Clinical Therapist and a 200 hour trained Yoga Teacher (YT200) specializing in helping adults mindfully navigate anxiety, stress, depressed moods, grief/loss and life transitions. I provide individual therapy and yoga infused psychotherapy sessions in my private practice in Alpharetta and online. I enjoy taking a holistic approach to therapy by using traditional psychotherapy techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and weaving Yoga, Mindfulness or Hypnotherapy tools into our session. No yoga pants required!

My training started over 20 years ago at a community mental health clinic. After working with child protective services and at a free health clinic I decided to further my education. In 2005 I completed a Masters Degree at the University of Georgia (UGA) in Social Work. I went on to work in the field of Hospice, Oncology and Women's Health with both Veterans and civilians. Later, I journeyed into private practice and most recently I completed Yoga Teacher training. It is from all of these experiences that I've developed a private practice focused on incorporating tools to mindfully navigate some of life's challenging emotions including anxiety, depressed moods, and grief & loss.

The name "Mountain Mindfulness" came out of a conversation with a friend over coffee. Combining my love for the North Georgia mountains with the yoga Mountain pose, Tadasana = "Mountain Mindfulness Therapy".

When standing in Tadasana (to an observer) you may appear calm, steady, secure, strong. While on the inside you may actually be holding very different feelings. Sadness. Grief. Guilt or Anger.
